My Work:

In previous jobs I have worked in mining, waste management and construction projects as a surveyor then as a project manager -

Each scheme takes up to 12 weeks to plan and I will have to speak with the Council, the public and businesses about our works. Each scheme requires detailed planning around working times to reduce disruption, environmental assessments and measures required to protect wildlife and certain protected habitats. Safety of the works is very important and alot of planning is required to ensure everyone who will work on each site works safely and does not put themselves at risk of being hurt.

What I'd do with the prize money:
There is a conservation group in Sheffield called The Friends of Porter Valley and they do various projects to protect the watercourses and the river valley areas of the Porter Valley including the subterranean sections of the rivers which flow under Sheffield City Centre. I would donate the Β£500 to the group so they can continue to do their great works in protecting the Porter Valley area.
This is their website https://www.fopv.org.uk
They also do guided tours underground through the subterranean tunnels under Sheffield City Centre, I have been on one of the tours last year and it was amazing. There are videos on Youtube of the underground rivers in Sheffield so you can see what is there. Look up “Megatron Sheffield” and you can watch the videos.
