Raven is a black cockerpoo and is only 6 months old! She’s a lot of fun but has been getting into trouble recently when she chews the carpets…
I’ve still got most of my computers from when I was a kid and I still collect games for them. I also love playing football in real life as well as in Fifa 23 on the Xbox. My favourite football team is Doncaster Rovers (I lived near to Doncaster when I was growing up) but I also go and watch Chelmsford City FC.
I’ve always loved sci-fi. I enjoy sci-fi books, films, TV series’ and games. My favourite sci-fi book is Rendezvous with Rama (Arthur C. Clarke). My favourite sci-fi film is Dune (the new one!). My favourite sci-fi TV series is Andor and my favourite sci-fi game is EVE Online.

PropTech (property technology) is a fast growing area of science that uses geography, maths & statistics, programming, writing and design to better understand and explain to people what causes home values to vary, why and by how much.
I’m a PropTech GIS (Geographical Information Systems) Analyst which means that I use specialist geography software to understand all the spatial things that affect the value of homes. For example, people generally pay more for a home near to a good school, with interesting views (e.g. a river), in a crime free area and with shops nearby.
Our customers are usually large property developers who often want to know how their housing developments compare to others in the local area and what they can do to improve them if they aren’t selling very well. Sometimes they need help picking out all the really great things about their housing developments that we know people will like to hear about.
Everything we tell them has to be backed up with facts and figures as well as a few maps.
-
My Typical Day:
Once the family is up, I walk my children to school and get back in time to start work.
My working hours are usually 9am to 3pm with half an hour for lunch.
At 3pm I go and collect my children from school and take them to after school clubs.

At work, I typically start by reading through my e-mails and either make a start on a new project or carry on with an existing one.
Usually this involves having a few online meetings using Zoom to make sure we all know what we are doing and how we are going to solve any problems.
Some days I’m analysing huge datasets in spreadsheets and some days I’m creating maps to help explain my findings. It requires a lot of problem solving and detective work to find the story inside the data. Sometimes the story isn’t what you thought you would find!
Once we finish gathering data and writing about it we send it to our graphic designer who makes it look great.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I will donate the £500 to the Halo Children’s Foundation and the Fairy Bricks charity to buy Lego for the children they support.
Halo is a children’s foundation that supports children and their families with bereavement.
Fairy Bricks donate LEGO sets to children’s hospices and hospitals, brightening the lives of sick children in hospital.
