Lots of computer time! It can be quite mentally draining sometimes. To help, I get out in the countryside everyday to walk my dog 🙂

There are tedious bits to the job, things like checking formatting and references on reports are all correct, I’d say that’s what I dislike the most. It’s all the admin-type bits you have to do in between the interesting science elements.

Some days I’m doing a lot of numeric data work which can be a bit boring.

George Foden answered on 6 Mar 2023:
I don’t really like the admin work. Right now I am working on getting my ethical approval for my research, which involves lots of paperwork and things like risk assessments. It takes quite a lot of time, but its important to make sure you and the people you’re working with will be safe when you’re actually out doing your research in the field, so you have to do it to get to the fun part!

There is a lot of forms to fill in to apply for permissions to work and other authorisations which are all required for each job, this is really boring.
