Harriet Lord answered on 3 Mar 2023:
Climate change has a negative impact on peoples’ lives (more flooding, storms, higher temperatures..worse health, etc.), so tackling climate change and protecting and improving the state of the planet helps peoples’ lives in this way.
Inequality is also a driver of climate change/ environmental destruction, so equality is important for a sustainable world. Equality also improves peoples’ health and happiness, their skills and ability to work and live and be safe, etc.
So in our sustainability work, we tackle inequality by e.g. recommending company policies that support women and minority ethnic groups, or by advising on the design of buildings that provide access for disabled people, or by reducing the prices of entry to museums and galleries so more people can visit great places, etc. We also tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions and increasing and improving green spaces (parks, trees, wetlands, biodiversity, etc.).
All of these things are essential for a sustainable society and world!
Have a look at the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs)
